Last Friday I received news that I was no longer on the waiting list for the EWH Summer Institute in Central America - I've been accepted!
Now seems the appropriate time to begin documenting my experiences. I've never had a blog before. I foresee that my greatest difficulty will be remembering to update it, but hopefully remembering all of the helpful blog posts I read on my road to acceptance, in addition to knowing the ones I care about will be reading for updates, will be encouragement enough to post.
Currently, I'm reviewing my finances to determine whether or not I'll be financially capable of going. I did not receive the full amount of financial aid that I requested, though I hardly expected I would. In addition, the delay created by my being waitlisted for two weeks means that a couple of the scholarships I'd planned on applying for are no longer accepting applicants.
The plan now is to focus on the areas in my plan: letter writing, scholarship searches, and fundraising around campus. Wish me luck!
